I dunno why I was thinking they'd come up with a witch. You know, barmaid sort of thing. Could take care of Bea as well.

But I suppose there's no reason not to try for one of these lot, if there are no other ideas - or if we can't think of a good reason not to make the attempt.

Remus, about going for the London muggleborns: It's up to you, love. I can't remember what Snape told you about whether you can delay Wolfsbane by a night so you can take Polyjuice or how long afterward it'll be before the Wolfbane is safe. Only know that it's probably not wise to mix drinks.

A barmaid, though? I thought you were meant to be happily taken. Do we need to have a talk about what sort of work robes we'll be having this person wear?

And a wizard could take care of Bea just fine. Haven't noticed you having any trouble. Even Mac did all right with her. To be honest, I think she likes to flirt with wizards. Have you noticed?

What did you think of the people Davidson suggested? If we're to pick one of them, well, I liked the last one.

Don't be ridiculous, Dora: Being happily taken doesn't mean I don't still like looking. And you've got to admit Moony'd look well daft in one of those off-the-shoulder peasant blouse things.

But really, you're right. A wizard can care for Bea just fine. It's just there would be rather a load of us if we get a bloke to help out: Him, me, Moony - even Kreacher's male, for all we don't like to let him get too close to Bea (and you never did say what makes you think he pretends to fancy her).

And there's our customers, right? Maybe we ought to take in two - one male, one female, just to keep things even-handed.

Anyway. Sure, I suppose if it's to be a bloke, the last one's fine. Why him, out of the three?

I'm glad I was not just taking a sip of mead when I read that! And now I can't stop imagining Remus in a peasant top with his ratty old cardi pulled over the top. He'd frighten all the customers away.

Possibly I like to flirt with wizards, too, you know. And the two I know best are rather uninterested in me.

Let's start with one first, shall we? And then if it's not a complete disaster, we can start looking for a second.

As for Davidson's list, well. I know the first two had all sorts of skills and whatnot that should probably make us choose one of them, only, the third one, well. I suppose I just liked the idea of helping out someone one of ours cares about. He's Davidson's brother-in-law, right? And I suppose I like to think we take care of our own.

I was thinking more along the lines of those German outfits. You know, with the bustiers? Have to add the cardigan, though, it well completes the 'look.'

Anyway, I have to admit that when Kingsley gave us three men to think on, I did immediately wonder whether one of them might do for you but then I got to thinking about what Alice said and their choices. Merlin knows there're probably a fair few young lasses who come into a family and aren't given any choice about warming the master's bed now and then (though of course, someone who's well maniacal about purebloods would never ever admit to any sort of attraction along those lines). Course if the bloke came here and you both found yourself - well, I mean to say, you know I'd be nothing but happy for you (assuming we all get on well enough, of course). Remus too, I'm sure.

Still I rather prefer the idea of a woman, somehow, if for no other reason than to make sure you're not the sole female voice of sanity in Bea's life, eh?

But you've a point about helping our own.

Say. That gives me a thought. Remember Mac mentioning that he had a sister? I think I recall Kingsley saying she wound up in the camps.

Also. Whoa. Slow down. I said flirting, not... anything more. I'm not on the hunt, and I'm definitely not thinking of hiring someone to be my bloke.

Not to mention that Alice is right. Sorry, but that's just well awful to think about.

The more I think of it, the more I think we really should look into hiring a woman. (But no German outfits, you.) I wonder if Arthur could find Mac's sister for us. I'd like that. Though, I suppose we don't know anything at all about her. Mac didn't tell me much. At all. Only what he did say made me think things went very badly in his family. We should ask him. Whether she's likely to be the sort who would want to help with what we do, I mean. But it would be nice to think we could help her, so we should ask Arthur, too, if he can find her.


Oh, and obviously, I'm awake. So if you're ready to go, I am.

No, no, I didn't mean it to sound as if I'm counting my dragons before they've hatched. Just that I know how awkward it is for you keeping up the pretence of marriage - and how hard it would be to get close to anyone whom you couldn't trust with all our secrets. So it would be a happy accident if something like that came about. That's all. Trust me, I'm not looking to pair you off against your will, either, kiddo.

Kingsley offered to ask about women. I think it might be a good option but ... I dunno. I thought about Mac's sister off and on all morning. You're right he's not said two words about her, really. Well, he hardly says more than two words about anything, does he? But beyond that - we don't know anything about her, as you said. And that's a problem in and of itself. What I mean is, it's risky enough even trying to stack the cards toward a muggleborn we've 'pre-selected,' as it were. If we have to put on a huge search even to find Mac's sister, and then after already raising that flag, we try to jigger our request so she comes out top of the pile .... Well, you see my point, I'm sure. To say nothing of the fact that she's probably already considered a high-risk inhabitant - by which I mean I shouldn't wonder if someone's put something in her file to consider any request for her suspicious in itself. And that sort of scrutiny we should probably avoid.

But anyway, I do agree it would be good to at least find her and see what we can do about reuniting them. And I think I'll just tell Kingsley that yeah, we think a female domestic would look more natural for you and Junius to request.

Give Bea a last tickle and come down, then. I went round the drop site this morning after Arthur said he left the papers there so we can get this done before tea, if we're lucky.
