Order only: Life in London
Jul. 1st, 2010 01:38 pmYou lot weren't kidding, it's different.
I've been posing as a lovable stray, which seems to be working well enough. Collecting old papers for news and there are a few households 'round here with a soft spot for a big black mutt, so the food hasn't even been too bad. There's always Smithfield Market if I'm in a really tight spot.
But it's dead eerie, all the empty streets. And hardly any noise. There are certainly plenty of empty houses, though, so I'm able to transform back and catch up on the journals fairly regularly. Just have to be careful not to pick a house with a cat flap. Not that I dislike cats, quite the opposite, but the first place I found when I got here smelled so powerfully of cat I had to abandon it.
There's a pack of dogs that congregate round about Willesden Cemetery - had a bit of conversation with them when I first got here. We've straightened it out now; they know not to mess with me nor I with them. But the cars! They must have spent years just clearing the streets. And every morning I see troops of Muggles scavenging the homes south of the Thames, wizard overseers watching their every move. It's madness.
Moony, I thought about checking on you at full moon, but ... well, all the reasons I didn't go to Moddey Dhoo still apply to Laszlo and Junius, don't they? Hope you're doing all right. And Dora, hope you're continuing to recover.
At any rate, I've mainly been trying to find the best places to watch over Buckingham, without being too noticeable. There are a few places along Constitution Hill where it's simple to get over the walls - no, I haven't tried it, there are too many guards and people all about. I think I caught a glimpse of Harry and Draco, flying in the gardens yesterday. But I haven't got too close. Especially if Rabastan Lestrange is with him all the time, I don't want to be seen.
Frank, Alice, I've seen a few crews sticking up new Wanted posters for you. Taking mine down, that's a good sign, but I don't like the look of this new crop. Looks like they've increased the rewards for you both as well.
That's about it, really. No sign of Snape or Macnair so far.
