They might not need to know there was any sort of leak. We could either respond after they start their attack (and someone could conceivably have had time to raise an alarm) or we arrange to already be there, or we arrange to be conspicuously and visibly elsewhere when the attack is initiated.
There are ways to counter their tactic without giving away that we have an insider.
