I didn't want to mention it, but that cloak you gave me for Christmas -- it went missing again a few days ago, and it wasn't there, either.

Bea's house elf wasn't there, either. The one Cousin Narcissa gave her.

Knowing Remus, he probably put your pair away to be used once the ones I gave him wore out and never noticed them missing, either.

As for the toy, that can stay missing, far as I'm concerned. Dead disturbing, that elf. The eyes followed you, I swear.

I'm all for letting that doll stay lost. Maybe we could tell Kreacher that if he shows us where the rest of it is, we'll let him dispose of the doll?

I really thought I'D misplaced those slippers, it's why I didn't say anything. I felt terrible, losing my present less than a month after I got it.

Ta, love. I felt awfully silly to have given you slippers when it turned out Mangy'd given you some, too. I wasn't surprised when you wore his. Maybe we could let the elf keep those, too, if he likes them. Except. Would that amount to giving him clothes?

Well, perhaps we can find something he could keep. Something that's not clothes at all, but that he'd value. Maybe then he wouldn't be so anxious for the other things that were your parents' belongings.

He seems to live very much in the past. And I'm sure it's hard for him to accept that we've barged in and taken over everything here.

Oi, I may mock the cardigan, fur-face, but I'd never take it away without giving you another one to replace it.

Even then I suspect you'd just wear the old one until it's in complete tatters.

Thing is. That cloak was my father's. But I can't imagine Kreacher would want it and your cardi in the same place. Two more nests?

Yeah. Possibly the most disturbing thing in the whole bundle, eh? Not the trousers themselves, mind, but the way he snivelled over us touching them.

They were my father's, as well. Probably ought to send a load of clothes out to Moddey, or the Players, where it's unlikely anyone will notice where they came from. Expect they could all use some decent replacements - and if not, then at least the cloth could be used for something else, perhaps.

At any rate, we've got two categories of things missing still, clearly. There's things Kreacher doesn't want us to have because he thinks they're too good for the likes of us -- the cloak, the letter opener, and I think there was some other heirloom that wandered off that hasn't turned up yet. A comb, maybe? I wasn't sure if that got lost, or if it turned out to be cursed and that's why it vanished.

And then there are things Kreacher's taking just to irritate us -- the cardigan, Dora's book, the doll. Well, maybe he took the house-elf doll because it irritated HIM. I can't say as I blame him, if that's the case.
