It doesn't quite produce the effect I was thinking it might. But she mentions something about 'three drammes shall sufficeth, that a warlock might suppress him his uoie and in thus wise, betray not his nature through his actes of magick' - and it goes on to talk about what I think she meant is a sort of high from doing dark spells.
It's nearly falling apart, though. I'm going to have to copy it all out before I can even start to translate it.

Besides, the handwriting's nearly impossible to read. I only remember it because Mother used to make us practise out of it now and then. Write it out, then read it over, then figure out what she meant.

What happened with Bill in Mulciber's office reminded me of what you said your mother did with dark spells. When we were talking about that letter Sally-Anne sent, last summer. 'Watch Mummy show you how it's done' and then 'Give it a go yourself.'
At least Bill's not a child.
Anyway, there could be more than one reason it's all coming back.
